Using the Nokta Legend at a new permission, I was delighted to detect an Australian Internment Camps World War 2 penny token. There were five different tokens of varying value from one penny to five shillings that were used in Australian and New Zealand World War 2 Internment Camps in place of Australian coinage principally for security reasons. They were introduced in Australia in different stages throughout 1943, to replace paper canteen coupons. They are relatively rare to find with most being melted down after the conclusion to World War 2. The Legend was able to detect this small coin at a depth of 12 centimetres in very trashy ground with some other interesting coins and military artefacts. A terrific find using a brilliant detector. I look forward to seeing what else can be found at this site with my Nokta Legend.
