Easy to set up, not too complicated, looked nice and sturdy
I just have to share my excitement with you all. Yesterday I had the best days metal detecting ever, I say day, it was just 5 hours but I'll never forget it.
I've been detecting for about 10 months now. Started off with the Garret Ace 250 which got me addicted to the hobby of metal detecting. So much so that just after a couple of months I decided to upgrade to a Garret AT Pro. Within a month I felt like the AT Pro wasn't for me, I just couldn't get on with it. So ended up selling it again. Looking around for another new machine I looked at a few, read reviews, listened to other detectorists, etc. I just couldn't decide on what to buy. Then on the net I came across the Nokta Velox One. I had never heard of this machine before and saw that it was a newish machine out. After reading a lot of reviews on it and watching U-Tube vidieos it certainly looked like a machine I could get on with. Easy to set up, not too complicated, looked nice and sturdy. Wasn't long before I decided to take the plunge and bought one.
I have owned it for about three months now and really enjoying it. I can walk onto a field, set up the machine and away detecting within seconds.
Up untill yesterday I have had lots of finds with my Velox, coins, artifacts, etc, but was still waiting to christen it with a very nice find. I was thinking more about a nice old Hammered coin, something really old to prove to me that my decision to buy the Velox One was a good decision.|
Well, it came yesterday, the day I was waiting for. Ok, it wasn't a very old find but a quality find that I have always dreamed about, a Gold Coin. I couldn't believe my eyes seeing it in the side of the hole after getting a great signal and removing the turf. It was on edge just stuck there. Removing it from the hole with my fingers i just knew it was gold, looked like it had just been minted. After a gentle wipe with a cloth it lay there in my shaking hand gleaming in the sun. I just had to sit down and admire it. I've found a gold coin, I've found a gold coin kept going through my mind. What a feeling and that feeling will stay with me forever.
After getting my head together I thought may as well do a bit more detecting as I still had a couple of hours to go. At this point I didn't mind if I found nothing else as I was buzzing. Stated to find a couple more coppers and the odd modern coins when i hit another very good signal. Dug it and out pops a gold and silver ring... WOW, This is too much for my tiny brain. I was having excitement overload. What a day. All in all my finds were the gold coin, the ring, two silver coins, seven old copper coins and thirteen modern decimal coins.
I cleaned and researched a bit about my finds when I arrived home last night. The gold coin is an American Five Dollar dated 1903. The ring is a silver band with a gold face made by Henry Griffith & Sons in England. The two silver coins are a English George V Sixpence dated 1930 and a George VI Shilling dated 1937.
I've added pictures of all my finds from yesterday which as I said was my best days detecting so far. Here's to finding more great finds with my Velox One. If you want to follow my detecting experiences I started a Blog a couple of months ago which can be found at http://janner53.blogspot.co.uk/
